If Jackson Pollock were a rhino

What creative genius lies behind these eyes? More than just beauty, Doppsee’s got artistic flair!

Doppsee, resident black rhino and hopeful future mom at Potter Park Zoo, has graciously lent her artistic genius toward Fight for Rhinos Art Auction.

“Doppsee’s Garden” by Doppsee

“In the Mood for Blue” by Doppsee

Don’t miss your chance to own one of these gorgeous originals from the up and coming artist! Auction begins Aug 28th! All proceeds benefit canine APUs.

About the Artist: Doppsee is a ten-year old striking black rhino. Rather sweet-tempered (as far as black rhinos go), when she is not creating art, her interests include dining, mudbaths, and unabashedly seeking out attention from her caregivers.

Dops’ latest hobby involves her love interest, Phinneas. Her new neighbor just moved in from Texas, and they’ve taken quite the liking to one another. The next project for this talented lady? With any luck-motherhood!

Hello guys,

Well we are approximately halfway through  the Art Auction and we have had 18 Bids so far on several Art pieces.  But we are falling well short of interested parties and bids especially on the more expensive pieces.

Our goal to be raised for this Art Auction campaign is $7,500 (light blue bar is the goal).    Halfway into the auction  we are only at about $1,000 Dollars raised in bids. (dark blue bar on the left is sales so far)

If you have not yet visited our auction site please do so.   If you have friends, families, colleagues that would be interested in pieces such as these please share the link below with them and have them share  as well to get the word out:

As I have always said, it only takes one to make a difference. I want lots of “ones”  helping with this campaign…:)     Fight for Rhinos really needs your help guys.

Please take the time and get the word out for us anyway you can TODAY! and the next and the next.  Share Share is the operative word.

Also, for you personally, please make a bid if you see something you would like hanging in your home on your wall or mantle or coffee table.

Lets get that dark blue bar on the left  on the sales graph higher and higher in the next few days….:)

Thank you,

Rhino Girl (Tisha Wardlow)

rhino tracking VA

Tracking rhinos by Vision Africa in South Africa

We can’t all be in the field working with rhinos, but we CAN help the people who do. Educating communities, tracking rhinos, providing around the clock care and food for orphans, and keeping rangers safe with equipment as well as necessities…it takes funding

Last quarter, we helped
*Vision Africa Wildlife to secure the last piece of software they require to complete the development of their rhino tracking product and to provide body armour for their tracking dog
*helped provide GRU (Game Reserve United) with key software and the purchase of a quad bike for security and monitoring
*purchased veterinary and nursing equipment for Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage
*provided over $1000 usd to Ol Pejeta for daily costs

The only funding we can give them is what you help us with. The Art for Rhinos Auction, and individual donations help keep these people active in their jobs of caring for rhinos.  Without them, rhino conservation would only be a dream.

Using Art to help stop poaching of rhinos

Within the last 24 hours in South Africa

It’s fun, it’s beautiful and it makes a great talking piece for your living room. But this art, like all the pieces in our auction has a much more important goal: to raise funds to stop the slaughter of the iconic, majestic rhinos.

The above image just happened within the last 24 hours in South Africa. This all too common occurrence happens 4 times a day, everyday. The current rhino population CANNOT sustain this level of decimation.

At Fight for Rhinos, we work closely with our UK-based partners Helping Rhinos in carefully choosing a combination of projects that give our rhinos the best chance at a future. Currently this includes

  • assisting in the survival of orphans
  • keeping rangers active in the field
  • supporting and educating local communities on the importance of wildlife preservation.

Your purchase and/or donations are the only way we can keep this going.

Every SHARE, LIKE, RT…spreads awareness.
Every dollar donated, every piece sold…it DOES make a difference.

Please join us in this unique opportunity and help us help rhinos!  ART FOR RHINOS

How the Rhinoceros got it’s Skin

How the Rhino got his Skin -1902

How the Rhino got his Skin -1902

“…there came down to the beach from the Altogether Uninhabited Interior one Rhinoceros with a horn on his nose, two piggy eyes, and few manners. In those days the Rhinoceros’s skin fitted him quite tight. There were no wrinkles in it anywhere. He looked exactly like a Noah’s Ark Rhinoceros, but of course much bigger. All the same, he had no manners then, and he has no manners now, and he never will have any manners..”

The great English author Rudyard Kipling who wrote The Jungle Book and The Man Who Would be King, also wove this whimsical and fantastical yarn of “How the Rhinoceros Got It’s Skin

This rare vintage print from the story is being offered in our online art auction on June 1st. Take a peek at the work that will be offered: RHINO ART AUCTION

All proceeds raised will directly benefit our conservation projects: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Vision Africa, Greater Reserves United, the Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage, and the RPU Program in Indonesia.
