Bear Grylls Race for Rhino Survival

Bear Grylls Survival Race

Bear Grylls is giving you the chance to prove that you have the same survivor instincts that he does by participating in a 10k survival race that he personally designed with his team.

This unique event is designed to test and develop your tenacity and adventurous spirit. It is a tough race requiring both physicality and courage. Bear and his team have ensured there is a minimum of 35+ obstacles to challenge racers along the course which will include a series of mud runs, obstacle races and survival challenges.

For more info see Bear Grylls Survival Race website.

The Bear Grylls Race for Rhino Survival Heat

Bear is passionate about saving the world’s rhinos from extinction and dedicates a lot of his time to this cause. To honour his passion for this cause, Bear has dedicated one of the 10k Survival Race heats to raise funds and awareness for the rhinos. This heat is called the “Bear Grylls Race for Rhino Survival” and will have exactly the same rules, regulations and obstacles as all the other 10k heats. There are only 400 tickets available for this exclusive heat, which is open to anyone over the age of 14.

By way of thanking you for choosing to race for the rhino, we have arranged for The Bear Grylls Race for Rhino Survival heat to be one of only three heats which will be started by Bear himself. In addition, the entry to this heat only is free for those who raise a minimum of £150 for the plight of the rhino. The funds raised will be split between four rhino charities working together to combat the poaching problem;  Tusk, Helping Rhinos, Rooting for Rhino and Wilderness Foundation.

Hello guys,

Well we are approximately halfway through  the Art Auction and we have had 18 Bids so far on several Art pieces.  But we are falling well short of interested parties and bids especially on the more expensive pieces.

Our goal to be raised for this Art Auction campaign is $7,500 (light blue bar is the goal).    Halfway into the auction  we are only at about $1,000 Dollars raised in bids. (dark blue bar on the left is sales so far)

If you have not yet visited our auction site please do so.   If you have friends, families, colleagues that would be interested in pieces such as these please share the link below with them and have them share  as well to get the word out:

As I have always said, it only takes one to make a difference. I want lots of “ones”  helping with this campaign…:)     Fight for Rhinos really needs your help guys.

Please take the time and get the word out for us anyway you can TODAY! and the next and the next.  Share Share is the operative word.

Also, for you personally, please make a bid if you see something you would like hanging in your home on your wall or mantle or coffee table.

Lets get that dark blue bar on the left  on the sales graph higher and higher in the next few days….:)

Thank you,

Rhino Girl (Tisha Wardlow)

rhino tracking VA

Tracking rhinos by Vision Africa in South Africa

We can’t all be in the field working with rhinos, but we CAN help the people who do. Educating communities, tracking rhinos, providing around the clock care and food for orphans, and keeping rangers safe with equipment as well as necessities…it takes funding

Last quarter, we helped
*Vision Africa Wildlife to secure the last piece of software they require to complete the development of their rhino tracking product and to provide body armour for their tracking dog
*helped provide GRU (Game Reserve United) with key software and the purchase of a quad bike for security and monitoring
*purchased veterinary and nursing equipment for Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage
*provided over $1000 usd to Ol Pejeta for daily costs

The only funding we can give them is what you help us with. The Art for Rhinos Auction, and individual donations help keep these people active in their jobs of caring for rhinos.  Without them, rhino conservation would only be a dream.

A little help from my friends..

Please sign and share our Thunderclap to promote our art auction for rhinos.

We only need 250 signatures to create a “thunderous” tweet to reach thousands. The more people we reach, the more potential there is for a successful auction. All proceeds will directly benefit rhinos!

Northern Whites Go Viral

After the Dodo picked up  The Last Male on Earth, it went viral. Huffington Post and CNN ran the story of the Northern Whites, and the world took notice. The beautiful creatures’ lives are a tragedy like no other and are deservingly capturing the attention of the world.

Our story on Sudan, has helped our colleagues at Ol Pejeta Conservancy raise 20,000GBP in just three days! But their campaign isn’t over. It takes a lot to keep rangers trained and safe, not to mention the phenomenal amount of care that goes into caring for over a hundred rhinos!

They are over half way on their goal. The Northern Whites, as well as the southern whites, and black rhinos need our support. Please continue to support Ol Pejeta and Fight for Rhinos, as we continue to protect the world’s rhinos.

Donate to : Ol Pejeta: Keep the Rhino Rangers Safe  and  Fight for Rhinos: Preserving the world’s rhinos

Keep the momentum going and spread the word! Let’s help keep them safe!.

Each Journey Begins with that First Step

“Fate rarely calls on us at a time of our choosing…”

After years of outrage over rhino poaching, one day after a teary outburst at the injustice of it all, someone suggested “Why don’t you start a blog?  It’ll at least give you a way to get your feelings out.” A blog? Am I a blogger? What do I say?

After stumbling through the first couple of posts, something clicked.  I wrote, I researched, I advocated…  yet, it wasn’t quite enough.

Then came the suggestion:  “Have you ever thought of starting a non-profit?”

Blogging’s one thing, but a charity? The idea rolled around in my head for a bit (actually violently kicked and screamed through my brain.)  But was there really a choice? I had to do more.

Then came the unexpected trip to Kenya, meeting with Ol Pejeta Conservancy, and my first wild rhino encounter…

Tisha OPC rhino 1

Parked along the dirt road, the guide pointed him out; squinting and shielding my eyes from the sun, I could barely make out a rear leg and tail. My heart raced, but if only he were closer.. He seemed to read my mind (or so I like to think). He suddenly jerked his head up out of the bush, turned our way ,took a couple of steps, then started charging toward us. About 60 feet from us, he stopped.

Perfection! I was filled with pure joy. He stood with his head tilted, ears turning this way and that like little satellite dishes, taking us in; and I did the same; every wrinkle, the curl of his lip, the look in his eye-sketched into my memory. After what seemed an eternity, somehow satisfied, he turned and jogged back toward where he came.

Tisha OPC rhino 2

It was from that moment, I knew there was no turning back. The most gentle, yet feisty, amazing animals who are being killed for nothing. That rhino, every rhino is part of our world, and needs to be here. And I will not stop fighting for them. I will not give in or give up.

After making personal life decisions; selling the house, cashing in my 401K, switching jobs, everything I do centers around saving rhinos; whatever it takes to commit the most time and finances. Fight for Rhinos is MY lifeline.

Each waking moment is spent wracking my brain, trying to come up with two things: how to stop the poaching , and how to make the world wake up and take notice to help us do it.

When someone finds out I run a “non-profit”, they excitedly ask “Oh! What for?” and I respond ” to protect our rhinos and secure a future for them.” To which I often get a puzzled look and “What?”

It means we have a lot of work to do. Many people have no idea there’s a war going on. A war not just for rhinos, but for our wildlife. Somehow in a small way, I am a part of that now, just as many of you are.

Everyone has their purpose. We are not here by accident. Having spent restless days and nights, wandering through life, I have found mine. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done and ever will do. Each week is a rollercoaster; highs and lows, elation to heartbreak. But I’ve committed my life 100% to the cause, to their survival. However I can help, each rhino, each dollar made toward keeping another one safe, is a victory. It’s what I live for.

Do Something for Rhinos

Awareness: the ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of events, objects, thoughts, emotions, or sensory patterns.

We cannot emphasis enough how vital it is to create awareness of the plight of the world’s rhinos. People need to know that –

  1. Rhinos are being slaughtered for their horns.
  2. 3 rhino are killed every day!
  3. Rhino are so critically endangered, that without swift and decisive action, they will be extinct within a few years.
  4. We CAN do something about it.

Once awareness is created, actions and involvement can be taken. We, in rhino alliance, are working together on projects involving technology, education, anti-poaching support and strategies.

Reality is what we make it. The future is in our hands.

Help spread awareness and assist with project funding with the purchase of our “Do Something” decals. Put them up at work, at home, on your car. Show your rhino love and get peoples’ attention!
